As the iconic 747 has been in service for over 40 years, Boeing is considering to end its production. Though the Airbus 380 holds higher passenger capacity, the 747 is still the grand daddy of all. It's design is iconic and the 380 is by far not as appealing as its Boeing nemesis. Here is data since the early 1990s about Airbus v Boeing orders and deliveries. One can see how economic cycle dependent orders are for both companies. The 2008/2009 recession saw a big dip in orders for both companies. Orders saw a max in 2013 and 2014 with levels seen shortly before the last big recession about 10 years ago. 2017 saw a recovering year from lower orders in 2015 and 2016. Airbus finished slightly ahead with orders in 2017 yet it was Boeing that delivered slightly more planes in 2017. Have a look ...
