here is a great article of the Russian answer in the 1960s to the Concorde development in Western Europe a few decades ago. The TU-144 only made a few flights before scrapping the program. The air show accident in Paris gave it its death blow. It is rumored that risky flight maneuvers lead to the deadly crash at the show.
