Some Cool Aviation Industry Data Stories: A320 and B737 Neck and Neck and Large Bird Trends

Story 1:  LARGER BIRD MARKET The largest airplane market has seen some dramatic shifts over the last 40+ years with the iconic 4 jet engine Boeing 747 dominating this blank space. Towards the mid 1990s, a tiny bit smaller but still very large Boeing sibling started to take orders away from the Jumbo Jet: the twin engine Boeing 777 picked up orders and is very popular with many airlines today. Airbus' idea to launch the biggest commercial airplane became reality with its first order being recorded in 2007 for its gigantic A380. Though orders started to come in steadily, the quad engine jet has been experiencing shrinking orders in the last few years similar to the the B747. Boeing has basically sun setted the Jumbo for passenger versions (cargo remains). Two new kids on the block, though smaller in size but with very wide flight range, have come onto the market.
